There is now a minimal design to hold your toilet rolls, your small towels, medium towels and even bigger towels. As a bonus, there’s a storage shelf for up to 6 rolls, which typically gets mounted alongside your single toilet roll holder.
The design itself is really a paring-back of traditional holders to a basic form. A lot of our manufacturing is done using single pieces of steel, formed into shape using industrial press-brake (folding machines) right here in New Zealand
You can mount these holders and storage either by screwing them to the wall, or using the adhesive version which is 3M VHB tape. This can be removed at a later date, just requires a light clean with an appropriate solvent.

Due to the nature of textbooks being a bit on the heavy side, 600mm wide shelves were recommended with the bottom row being 300mm deep and the rest being 200mm. We also spaced the bottom row at 375mm vertical pitch to allow for larger format magazines and books as well.
The customer was very happy with this layout, as it was able to hold a fairly significant portion of their book collection. There were a couple of minor obstacles to avoid, but it was a simple case of removing the offending shelves, and putting in a shorter rail.
The wall rails were installed on the wall using screw-in plasterboard fixings and over 100 of our usual 4mm torx-head screws. Was held onto the wall very securely, but will over 700kg of books, it really need to be.
The shelves were installed at a 300mm vertical pitch which was sufficient for the vast majority of the books and the larger ones went on the bottom row.
Feedback from the customer has been overwhelmingly positive:
"Shelves are great! They look beautiful and are wonderfully fit for purpose. You are clearly a master craftsman."

We can break this down into 3 main areas; Physical dimensions, total length and weight.
1) Physical dimensions
smpl. shelves come in two standard depths, being 200mm and 300mm.
For people who have a lot of standard A4 documents, the sizes are 210mm x 297mm, so in this instance we would typically use 200mm deep shelves at 375mm vertical spacing.
If you have many large format magazines, it is often wise to go for the 300mm depth variant. These would again typically be at 375mm vertical spacing
All shelves have ends that are 150mm high, so you can feel secure in the knowledge that your reading material will not fall off the end of the shelves!
2) Total length
The easiest way to size the total length of shelving required, is to pile them up and measure them. You can do this by grouping the books into similar sized stacked piles and take note of the approximate dimensions. Then it's just an addition process to determine the total length required.
3) Weight
As part of step 2, use some bathroom scales and add your total quantity of books up. While this number is relevant, the key number is not to exceed 20kg per shelf. Depending on what physical size your books are, you may find that they exceed this for a 900mm wide shelf. In this case if it’s even moderately close, please get in touch. An additional step for fully loaded bookshelves is to fix to the walls at every 150mm centres rather than a typical 300mm.

]]>My name is Hayden and my company is theGenesis. While it might just be me that you see behind the products, there's actually a whole team of suppliers that I have worked with for many years.
From sheetmetal to cabinetry, powdercoating and glass, I will only work with companies who have dependable quality and service.
As far as the products themselves, I am very passionate about them being not just long lasting, but rather adapting and evolving as you do in life. My family and I recently built our own home, and through that process learned a lot about use of space and simplicity, but also about bringing warmth and personality to your living through having a bit more of your life on show.
I seem to approach things from an engineering perspective, hence seeing a lot of modularity and multi-use in what I do. Form is important, but it is just art unless it has function.
